September Theme: Hoʻihoʻi Pilina – Remember. Restore. Protect. Continue.
We spent 4-Nights & 3-1/2 days at Kahaluʻu Ma Kai, Kailua Kona, Hawaiʻi. We also had a panel discussion on Wāhine in Visible & Invisible Leadership with Kumu Michelle Manu, Manu Powers (County Councilwoman Elect), and Kumu Kaea Lyons (HIDOE Vice Principal and Kumu Hula) – moderated by Ke’ala Hill.
What does it mean to move through the world as a koa wahine who knows who she is?
This September’s immersive experience explores wāhine identity, leadership, resilience, embodied movement, and practical self-protection through Hawaiian cultural knowledge, indigenous and modern science, Hula, and Lua—the only indigenous warrior art of Hawaiʻi.
We will dissect how we stand, how we move, how we respond under pressure, how we lead, and how we return to ourselves when life disrupts our center.
Kumu Manu taught live choreographed Hula to Lua and the hidden lua within hula at our September Gathering.
May 2026
A short recap of our first full day together!
May Theme: Personal Sovereignty & Koa Wahine
We spent 4-Nights & 3-1/2 days at the Grand Naniloa, Hilo, Hawaiʻi.
We welcomed wāhine to the inaugural Koa Wahine Retreat. In this wahi pana, we focused on two things: Sovereignty and Koa Wahine.
Sovereignty means you belong to yourself — your body, your energy, and your life are yours to choose and direct. No more shrinking, surviving, or handing your power away.
A Koa Wahine is a protector — a woman who stands for what is sacred in her life. She knows her worth and vigilantly guards it with clarity and courage.
In this retreat, you will learn how to reclaim yourself and how to protect what you reclaim. This is our path. Sovereign. Courageous. Unshakeable.
